Mechanism Options

The most important aspect to consider before purchasing a rise and recline chair is what seating positions you want the chair to achieve.

Most people consider colour and design first and forget that the most important choice is what they want the chair to do to aid their mobility needs. By explaining the positions available, we hope it will help you consider the options available to you.

Each mechanism is available in various different sizes as well as weight options and is manufactured with the importance of the user’s requirements.

More information about our mobility chairs

We all know that exercise – and having an active life in general – is good for you.

However, did you realise that the amount of time you spend sat down is important to your health too and that your chair could, in fact, be killing you?

According to the British Heart Foundation, sitting down for too long makes the risks from diabetes and cardiovascular disease much greater, and also has a connection to poor mental health.

That’s not to say we all need to watch TV, eat meals, read and do puzzles standing up, of course! However, it does put added emphasis on the need to get up and move about regularly, and also to choose the best chair in the first place.

We could be putting undue strain on our musculoskeletal systems – our bones and joints – if we sit in poorly designed chairs for hours at a time.

One of the ways you will know that you don’t have the right chair for your body shape, weight and height, is if you feel stiff, cramped or even slightly achy when you stand up. Or worse still, you physically struggle to get upright, from a seated position. Those are all warning signs that it’s time to go shopping for new chairs that tick all the right boxes.

How can you choose the right chair?

Choosing the right chair for you is not all about the structural properties and long-term comfort and support it provides though. Mobility Furniture works with its trusted and specialist suppliers to offer chairs which are ergonomically appropriate, but also beautiful.

We are able to offer a wide choice of colours, fabrics and finishes, so you get a chair that looks good, as well as doing you good! For many people with physical challenges – and the elderly – this means selecting from expertly crafted mobility chairs.

Types of chairs that are best for posture and comfort

If you browse our carefully selected range of mobility chairs, we’re confident you can find the right one to match your physical needs, but also your lifestyle, preferences and room décor. Incidentally, help and advice in choosing the right chair for you is always available from our friendly team.

It’s simply a matter of finding a chair to match your needs, that would also look great in your home – there is no need to compromise on these twin aims.

Basically, the main mobility chair options are:

Luxury reclining chair

Our luxury reclining chairs are the ultimate in comfort. They will help you to find the exact chair position and height to match your physical frame, balance pressure points and rest with ease. You can literally sit back and relax, or stay upright with your spine in perfect alignment.

Electric Recline chairs

These fabulous looking chairs can be adjusted at the touch of a button, with seat bases and backs that rise and fall to suit you. Power recliner chairs can be adjusted to accurately reflect seat height, depth, angle of posture and spacing for your arms to rest too.

Rise and Recliner chairs

Having an adjustable chair can be important, to match your seating needs exactly. Riser recliners are even more intuitively supportive. This is because they also help you to get up, and off the chair, effortlessly. A riser recliner can be invaluable if you have issues with mobility, or you are concerned about balance when you stand up from a chair.

Orthopaedic chairs

Seat height and depth can play a major role in how comfortable, supportive and posture-wise a chair is. Our range of orthopaedic chairs have been carefully designed and manufactured to ergonomically match a range of physical needs. Each well-thought-out and expertly constructed chair supports your spine, neck, legs and arms correctly, even when you sit for long periods.
